This map shows
the concentration of freshwater lakes in the state. Wisconsin
has been blessed with the third largest concentration of lakes
in the world, yet Wisconsin's Department of Natural Resources
is predicting that all of Wisconsin's lakes not under public
ownership will be fully developed within the next 20 years!
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has budgeted
nearly 5 million dollars each year for purchasing waterfront
land to keep it from being developed. This, combined with
stricter zoning laws, is making Wisconsin's lakefront land
very expensive and less available. |
